Laptop donation for Children's Aid youth in Ontario

Tech4Kidz is an Ontario not-for-profit that collects donated laptops and places them with children and youth through Children's Aid, including those supported by Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (Children's Aid). Donors give working Windows laptops that can run Windows 11 or MacBooks from 2018 or newer, and every laptop gets a full data wipe before it reaches a child.

How it works

  1. Tell us what you have. Use the donate form or email info@tech4kidz.ca with your city, device count, models, and wipe status.
  2. We confirm fit. We check the laptops meet our requirements before anyone drives.
  3. We pick up in Ontario. Pickups have a minimum of 5 laptops.
  4. Second full wipe. A local tech company wipes every laptop again.
  5. Placed through Children's Aid. The laptop goes to an Ontario child or youth who needs a computer for school.

Accepted laptops

  • Windows laptops that can run Windows 11
  • MacBooks from 2018 or newer that run macOS 14 Sonoma or later
  • One charger for each laptop

Older devices are politely declined, so every child gets a laptop that can last a school year.

Data security

Many donors have their own IT wipe laptops first. Then a local tech company does a second full wipe before any laptop goes to a child.

Who it helps

Children and youth in Ontario who are supported by Children's Aid and need a computer for school, including children and youth supported by Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (Children's Aid). A reliable laptop helps them do homework, keep up in class, and stay connected.
